Keep Carrollton Beautiful is currently looking for beautification projects for Great American Clean Up month.

Look around Carrollton or your neighborhood and make suggestions for projects that you think would make Carrollton a more beautiful place to live and visit. No project too small – just make a suggestion!

We will also be looking for volunteer groups to help with these projects. Please send all suggestions to cathy@kcbadmin.org

TEXAS RECYCLES DAY is an annual event sponsored by Keep Carrollton Beautiful.  In the past, this effort has allowed us to divert thousands of pounds of waste away from our Landfill.

WHEN:     Saturday, November 14th, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

WHERE:     Newman Smith High School parking lot

This year, our wonderful sponsors include:

Carrollton Evening Lions Club, collecting used eye glasses, hearing aids and durable medical equipment

Dallas Computer Parts, collecting used computers, hard drives, cables, software, electronics, phones, cell phones, stereos, printers and monitors (NOTE A $5 CHARGE APPLIES TO ALL MONITORS)

Firestone, collecting used car tires and car batteries

AAA Recycling, collecting scrap metal, and appliances (without Freon)

The Knit Group, collecting yarn

PTA Clothes Closet, Gently used wearable clothing for children and adults

Re-Candling, new and used or partially used candles

The Giving Community Garden in Carrollton, garden tools of all types

PTA Book Collection, Books, CDs, DVDs, VHS & Albums

Mosaic Paper Shredding, Non-confidential bins onsite, or confidential shredding available with coupon offsite (Nov 16-20)

VOLUNTEERS:  Email Amy and Diane and let us know your organization and the number of volunteers coming.  Bring any community service form you need signed.  We will have our waiver posted and a sign in sheet.  Lunch will be served.  Volunteers should arrive around 8:00am to 8:30am.

• Plan for a morning of community service on Saturday, September 26, 2009
• Register your group by emailing cathy@kcbadmin.org to register your HOA or organization group!  Don’t belong to a group, grab some neighbors and pick an area that you walk the most! High School and Scout groups welcome!
• Come to the back parking lot of City Hall – 1945 E. Jackson, 75006 starting at 8:00am to get your trash bags, gloves, assigned area map  or tell us where you want to clean up. Arrangements can be made prior to event to pick up supplies needed.
• Clean your assigned area and bring your trash back to City Hall or empty in your neighborhood bins. Be sure to count the number of bags you collect so we can report back to Keep Texas Beautiful.
• Look for final wrap up in Dallas Morning News, Carrollton Leader and on our website
